Synopsis: The story opens as Hercules seeks out the gods. After the death of his mother Alcmene he calls out to his father Zeus who explains that he must complete nine tasks and submit to the judgment of Eurystheus before he is allowed among the immortals. Hercules agrees and heads off to begin the first of his assigned labors, to kill the Nemean lion. After a series of encounters and struggles Hercules faces off against the dreaded lion and, using his massive strength, subdues and kills it. Hercules takes the lion’s skin as his mantle and heads off to his next task.
